Mary Jo Belfiore, our Director of Education and Talent Development, presented the workshop at Delaware Tech to 16 business leaders from Sussex County, including the Freeman Foundation, Fulton Bank, Cheer DE, and Citizen’s Bank. In the workshop, Belfiore discussed common mistakes to avoid during new hire onboarding, how to make employee orientation effective, interactive, and fun, and presented a case study about how we were able to make the leap from average to awesome.
“This series of workshops is designed to help businesses tackle common training challenges in the workplace. Through these interactive collaborative workshops, businesses will be able to share best demonstrated practices to help close the gap on these challenges,” said Belfiore.
As a result of the attendance of the first class, Trinity and Delaware Tech decided to conduct future workshops quarterly. The group brainstormed some future topics including company culture, performance reviews, feedback conversations, Millennials in the workplace, empowering employees, and keeping employees motivated.
“Having a structured onboarding program when hiring new employees is critical. This process directly affects all aspects of business such as performance, culture, and employee retention,” said Christopher Moody, Director of Workforce Development and Community Education for Delaware Tech.
